Saturday 5th August 2017
C Ride to Catforth by Frank Jones
A fine sunny morning brought large numbers to the cobbles, I arrived just in time to lead out, having sorted two punctures before leaving home! (Note to self - check your bike on Friday!).
14 "C" group riders left the cobbles but before too long the number had swollen to 16 after picking up Stuart Murray coming towards us and later Mike Coleran chasing us down after a late start. In my memory 16 is the biggest turn out the C's have had.
We did a slight detour to avoid Broughton traffic lights, using Jepps lane & Station Lane to get over towards Catforth.
Arriving at Catforth we were confronted with large groups from other clubs- Ribble Valley, Clitheroe & Cleveleys
who had beaten us there and completely filled the place!
After lots of queueing we all got seated in the garden and spent a pleasant time chatting,eating & swatting wasps!
During the return journey a few members peeled off to make their way home, the rest progressed through Inskip & Great Ecc and arrived back safely, disbanding outside the Lunch Box on Longmoor Lane.
PS Well done Steph! - Who recorded her fastest ever 40km!
