B 1+2 Ride to 'Roots' by Dave Hodgson
On a wet and windy day the B2 assemble was me and Mark a potential new member so the two of us decided to join John Keohane and his three B1 colleagues.

The decision was to abandon the Waddington Route and head towards Roots cafe.

The pace despite the wind and showers was pretty relentless as the B1 train powered its way through Inglewhite, Broughton, Bartle, Treales and Salwick towards an early cafe stop at Roots.

As we set off after the cafe stop John immediately got a puncture. Rather than wait around John kindly told us to carry on as he was near to home so the five of us pushed on. The stretch to Great Eccleston was very windy until we crossed the toll bridge when we felt a nice tail wind for the first time.

Two of the group left us to head to Cockerham at the Nateby junction and that was an opportunity for Vincent the Machine to force the pace back to Garstang.

We all arrived back safely. I had a good workout with the B1 (they are fast) and 40miles in the bank which was a bonus considering the weather. A good average pace of 15.5mph and a newby potentially joining the club.
