'C' ride report - Keith Parkinson
Heading up to Garstang was hoping no was daft enough to turn up, my hopes where dashed even before I'd parked the car, thanks Keith!
We got to the cobbles and discovered 3 more 'c' riders huddled under the archway opposite the cobbles, Kenny, Yvonne and Tamsin, who seems to thrive in wet weather. Influenced by the 'b's we decided to abandon the planned beacon fell ride and take the much more sensible option of catforth, 1 hour and 30 minutes we arrived incident free and grateful for the sanctuary that is roots, not as busy with cyclists as usual, suprise, suprise! so service was very quick and recieved with relish. All filled up we reluctantly climbed back on our bikes to head back to Garstang, via Elswick and great eccleston, powered by a tail wind we made good headway, at Great eccleston Tamsin took leave of us to head back to Inskip, then there was 4, all was going well, making good headway despite the conditions until Nateby, when Keith just caught Kenny's back tyre and came crashing down, thankfully he was ok and able to finish the ride, hopefully you're not feeling any after effects Keith. A reminder to us all how quickly and easily accidents happen.
We arrived back in Garstang wet through but thankfully no further incidents, I'd like to say a good time was had by all, but not sure that is true! but we took on what was thrown at us and finished the course. As Keith and myself was putting our bikes away a warm and dry Frank came and had a chat with us for a few minutes, wise decision Frank to stay at home, but not a brave one!
Hopefully drier next week.
