GCC A Ride report - Ian Tunbridge
Another good turnout for a relatively short A ride labelled Hest Bank. The group headed to Cockerham meeting with 2 riders at the junction, where we doubled back to go to Bay Horse, Galgate then up past Forest Hills to Quernmore then Caton. The wind was not giving any help, and it seemed to change to be a constant headwind and not much of the chaingang effort carried forward from the previous week, trying to herd the flock from the back. Regrouping at Halton we headed up Foundry Lane and to Hest Bank. From Bolton le Sands it was up again over the rolling terrain to Capernwray discussing Cafe stop, my intention to have a late stop, Boz had cycled in from Freckleton so was on a few miles more than us. A super loop up round col de Capernwray and what seemed to be the only tailwind on the road to Aughton. We decided not to follow my route through Lancaster centre plotted purely to avoid repeat of the route out, we made our way to the Animal Care cafe on Blea Tarn Rd, cheap and chearful. Not far home from here for the most of us, a run down Proctor Moss and then the usual back to Garstang. Good day out in super weather and back home early. ??
