C Ride to Catforth by Keith Parkinson
20 riders gathered on the cobbles a very healthy number for a early winter ride, the hoped for and requested good weather had arrived on time and we stayed dry all day, we regrouped at the kenlis arms, letting the 'b' riders through on their way we decided to split into 2 groups, I led the first group and Frank kindly volunteered to lead the second group, thanks Frank.
we made good progress, despite one or two minor techincal issues, soon sorted,we also picked up another2 riders,Stuart and Malcolm. we were suprised to see how broughton has changed since the new by pass, what a difference a road can make. At sandygate lane a short discussion ensued as wether to stick to the given route or go to roots by part of the guild wheel, hoyles lane etc, we decided on the given route as the previous evening there had been a lot of rain and thought it might be flooded, much to the disappointment of Tamzin, who doesn't mind wet feet!
We arrived at roots cafe at 1 minute to 11, impressive indeed, 3 minutes later the 2nd group arrived, large numbers but the cafe dealt with us well. We were joined there by Bob, who rode back with us, welcome back Bob, good to see you back in the saddle.
So 23 riders in all took part in all or some of the ride, the sun even broke through on occasion, with a bracing wind accompanyingus as well. thanks to all of you for making my first time as ride coordinater enjoyable. Keith.

p.s. best wishes to Steph as she begins her epic journey friday, we are all behind you.
