A Ride to Sedbergh by Paul Baillie
An unusually large group left the cobbles on Saturday bound for Sedbergh. 11 of us made our way to Galgate and up past the Uni where we were joined by 2 more! This ride leader isn't used to shepherding such big groups so there were a few organic splits on the road to Wray and on towards Ingleton where the only real climb of the day was tackled. The descent down to Hawes had more uphill bits than I remember, but a regroup here saw us head along the road to Garsdale and then the nice quick run into Sedbergh for a late lunch at 60 ish miles. After lunch the route back was pretty easy using the A683 to Kirkby Lonsdale then using the road through Whittington and Arkholme before crossing the river at Hornby and back along through Quernmore and Bay Horse Road. A quick regroup in Scorton to make sure everyone was back together and that was that. The weather was ok with just a few showers dotted here and there. Stats from my Garmin. 100.9 miles 4600 ft of climbing at 17.1mph. Hope to see more B riders make the step up soon. We're not that scary, but you do need a black top!
